Melanie Wilsden

The Hardison and Stoltze Chair

Melanie Wilsden began her position as Principal Oboist with the North Carolina Symphony in 1989. She came to North Carolina from the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, where she was Acting Associate Principal Oboist. Before she played with San Francisco, she performed on the oboe and English horn with the Savannah Symphony and Savannah Woodwind Quintet.

Ms. Wilsden is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where she studied with Elaine Douvas, Principal Oboist with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with John Mack, Principal Oboist with the Cleveland Orchestra.
